Manabu Nishiura is a Robotics Research Engineer at Toyota Motor Corporation, Frontier Research Center (R Frontier Division). His current work focuses on teleoperation systems, learning-based control, and training infrastructure for humanoid robots, including designing efficient data pipelines and GPU training workflows. He received his Master's degree (2021) in Interdisciplinary Information Studies and Bachelor's degree (2019) in Precision Engineering, both from the University of Tokyo, where he studied motor intelligence acquisition in musculoskeletal humanoids at JSK Robotics Laboratory under Prof. Masayuki Inaba and Prof. Kei Okada. Since joining Toyota Motor Corporation in 2021, he has worked on learning-based control for low-inertia backdrivable robotic arms. From 2023 to 2024, he was seconded to Toyota Research Institute (TRI), where he collaborated with world-class researchers on whole-body contact-rich manipulation. He has since returned to TMC, where he applies this experience to humanoid robot teleoperation and learning systems.
